0711 CrossFit is slowly but surely coming together, folks. Showers will be built next week. The floors, pull-up rig, and equipment is en route. Our schedule and rates are set. Mark your Calendars for October 12, 2013: if all goes well, we will have our grand opening party on this day, with daily workouts beginning on Monday October 14. While the physical aspects of the gym fall into place, we wanted to update you on what we think the most important aspects of our gym (and any gym, really) will be: programming, coaching, and community. PROGRAMMING Our programming (that is, the way we schedule your work outs) is intended to make you stronger, faster, and all around more fit. Rather than list for you the various styles of programming we’ve used for inspiration, we wanted to share a couple major considerations. First of all, clients new to CrossFit will follow a modified program for approximately 2 months, or until a 0711 Coach clears you to transition onto the regular programming. Why? Because (1) we want you to succeed and (2) we want you to be safe. During your onramp time, you will learn the movements, gain the skills, build basic strength, and develop capacity. A second consideration is time efficiency. Each class will last 60 minutes, and our goal is to make every second productive, inclusive of warm up, mobility work, technique work, strength training, metabolic conditioning, cool down, and even more mobility work. We recognize that you are busy people with busy lives. When you make the commitment to come to gym, we want you to get 100% of your commitment returned to you. If you’re an experienced CrossFitter, something else you might notice at 0711 CrossFit is that we will spend a lot of time exercising fundamentals and technique the first two months of being open. We are expecting a majority of our clients to be relatively new to CrossFit. Because of this, we will have set aside time to work on the more complicated techniques. COACHING We are delighted to announce that we have assembled a solid team of coaches! Once we open, you will see who is coaching each class on our web-based schedule with information about their qualifications and experience. Some qualifications on our coaching team include: B Lizenz Gewichtheben Leistungssport, C Lizenz Fitness & Gesundheitssport, Fachtrainer Ausdauersport, C-Lizenz Leistungssport, USAW Sports Performance Level 1, IKFF Level 1, and a variety of CrossFit certifications including CrossFit Gymnastics, CrossFit Football, CrossFit Olympic Lifting, CrossFit Strongman, and CrossFit Mobility. Beyond the certifications they hold, we have sought out coaches that share our attitudes on fitness, safety, inclusiveness, and community. Once of the things we love most about CrossFit is the way it pulls the best from different disciplines. Our Coaching staff reflects this philosophy, with backgrounds in Track and Field, Swimming, American Football, Football, Olympic Lifting, Military, Police, and medicine. We also believe the coach-client relationship is important. We will establish a consistent schedule in which clients who come regularly will develop a relationship the coaches, who will then better understand their abilities and needs as athletes. COMMUNITY
We are opening 0711 CrossFit with the belief that a strong, supportive community equals better results. When you come to the gym we want you to feel encouraged, empowered, inspired, challenged, and motivated. Period. How will we do this? Well, beyond establishing a chill-zone where you can hang out, keeping the fridge stocked with beer, throwing parties, and fostering an inclusive environment -- to be honest we can't really do much. This is where you come in. You make up our community. So... I guess this one’s on you. Get our community started. Post your thoughts in the comments below!

Welcome to our website! We are so excited to be opening 0711 CrossFit and cannot wait to open our doors and share this adventure with all of you. As there is still about two more months of filing paperwork, installing plumbing, and setting up equipment, we figured this was good time to share our 0711 vision.
If you haven't tried CrossFit yet, this part is for you. There is more specific information under Resources and Getting Started, but in brief, CrossFit is a different way of working out than you may be used to. We use equipment which is usually not available (or allowed) in most gyms. But most importantly, we foster an inclusive community where everyone supports each other in achieving their fitness goals - whether you want to lose weight, get stronger, run faster, etc. If you are already a CrossFit aficionado, you'll know that every CrossFit affiliate has its own approach. Ours? We want to focus on the spirit of CrossFit as leveraging and varying multiple disciplines. We plan to focus on excellence in lifting and gymnastics. We will also take seriously injury prevention by helping athletes improve their range of motion and avoid damaging biomechanics. We will program progressive linear strength training. Work outs will constantly vary, but they will not be random. Our goal is to make every member stronger, faster, healthier. If you see us in the window setting up, please stop by and say hello! |
